Careers

We make toys together, we own the work together, and we look after one another. Joining Elf Assembly means becoming part of a workshop where your skills are valued, your voice matters, and your labour directly shapes the future we are building.

Life inside the Assembly

Working at the Elf Assembly is about sustainability, for the work, for the people doing it, and for the world our toys end up in.

Strong onboarding and training

Every new member is supported through a structured induction, with time to learn our tools, materials, and ways of working.

Apprenticeships and skill development

From woodworking to fine painting, we invest in craft. Apprentices learn alongside experienced makers, with clear pathways to mastery.

Career progression and leadership

Roles grow as people grow. Leadership positions exist where they are useful, and progression is transparent, supported, and collectively accountable.

January rest period

We spend eleven months preparing for one night. So the workshops close in January. This time is protected, paid, and respected. Rest is part of good work.

Fair pay and shared ownership

We operate with agreed pay bands, a narrow pay ratio, and shared surplus. Everyone has one vote.

Standard workplace benefits

Paid leave, sick pay, flexible arrangements where possible, and a safe, well-resourced working environment.

Craft, responsibility, and trust

Elf Assembly recognises experience, responsibility, and skill.

Some members take on leadership roles, not as abosses, but as coordinators, mentors, and stewards of the work. Progression is based on craft, contribution, and care for others. Leadership is accountable, reviewable, and always in service of the collective.
